Luck Was Not With Me Today

Luck Was Not With Me Today short poem

I stepped outside my door
and without warning
Jack bit my cheek,
nose and mouth, so
when I chewed upon my
tongue lest I swore uncouth
words, my teeth bit
right through its core.
Blue blood flowed and
then, and only then I knew
what I had done. At least the words, I did not utter
the had stayed within.
I then turned tail and
decided, today I would miss
my stroll and walked straight
into the door. The key had froze
in the lock and blocked my return.
Luck was not with me today.

I love writing and reading poems, not so much the classics these days but knew fresh stuff I find that exciting. New styles and new ideas. Some people paint, or write books or do crafts to get the inside out, me I do poetry and read the inside of folk I love to write fun and nature poems the best though.

Johanna, I can not imagine you even thinking about uttering profanities, but when Jack Frost bites I can sort of believe it !! To turn tail and find yourself ‘lucked out’ was very unfortunate..haha. Check start of line 12 – did you mean to say they not the?

Loved it. I think we all have days like those.

Nicely done, Johanna!

As I leave this world, I worry not. I’ll simply move on to the next. I’ve been to many places will be to many more. What we see is not all there is. Realms upon realms there truly be. Existence
