Write, But Not Tonight

Write, But Not Tonight short poem

I want to write,

But not tonight.

Sleep is calling,

I feel me falling.

I rest my head,

On my soft bed.

My eyes are closed.

I cover my toes.

But my mind’s clear,

And in full gear.

Words start flowing,

Thoughts are growing.

Now shall I write?

Give up this fight?

My body’s weak.

My mind’s at peak.

My legs are sore.

My brain wants more.

My legs will heal.

Bodies rezeal.

If words let go,

I’ll never know,

Who they’d’ve touched,

And meant so much.

So here I am,

I’m up again.

Writing sweet lines;

Battles of minds.

Inspirations,

For the nations.

Because of a choice,

To heed a voice,

Of words in my head,

Instead of bed.

Tomorrow I’ll sleep,

Without a peep.

But as for tonight,

I will choose to write.
