This poem is on the small town Udupi, and the beautiful temples that grace Udupi. Madhwa Acharya had been the man behind the vision, that thrives in its glory, timelessly.
The hermit by the shore, with his followers
A ship rescued then from the raging tempests
Sacred missions by patrons, hence empowered
Legend of the eight temples, thus bequests.
The hustling villages had been seen lacking..
The hallowed en route, to render their visions.
Exquisite Structures proffered in the making,
Built with ardor, pride and labors of zillions.
Completed then, brilliant stature of such elegance,
Looming large making the genesis of sovereign stately,
Timeless, according with nature, in its sublime essence..
Cleaved into the culture, and oft the source of envy!
Processions and trades thrive the merry concourse,
Chorals and dramas resounding the stone walls,
Enthralling glimpses inspiring artistic purpose,
A legacy flourishing, as time slowly crawls.
Created zealously towards a refined culture,
Worshiped with piety and grace, the Gods!
Eulogized for noble fortitude in scriptures,
And a haven consoling, on ordeals of the odds.
The wisdom melded with resolute Victory,
The tales dissolved into the foundation,
Often, Watching victors rephrase the history…
The edifice yet, conveys the real orations.
Patterns of masonry, inbuilt in cryptic trace,
Unique to the Architects, a hallmark of Zions
Pilgrims dream, and the locals cherished grace,
The temple of divine obelisks, sustains the eons!
