Desire

Desire short poem

Desire, an ever burning coal within us
awaiting to be fuelled by a lover
or fame or money for others
An unquenchable thirst for touch
and breathless acts of pleasure
Desire, the dreams of devils and angels
A driven force un-yeilding to so many pleas
An urge that can tear us in half
or simply make us whole
Desire the brilliant and dangerous
wishes from the soul…

I am twenty years young from Ireland, I write to express and to say the things I could never make audible. I have little academic knowledge of poetry but I'm okay with that! I live to gaze at stars and question everything, my ultimate dream is to reset the factory settings of humanity...

Sarah, this is a wonderful poem! It is composed with breathless urgency and its energy never flags for ten inspired lines. The first time I read it, it was that inner energy that carried me along, but when I read it a second and third times I saw how varied and revealing your images are. You give us something so much richer than a dictionary definition. I especially like the boldness of DESIRE, THE DREAM OF DEVILS AND ANGELS. You unite the two sides of our nature in that image with desire providing the seal. It could be the dark and the light, the free and the bound, the sad and the happy, so many opposites, and you have almost harmonized them. Your opening three lines pulled me into the poem immediately. That burning coal could be a source of warmth and light, it could also be a flame that makes a person restless and drives them to achievement they would not even consider rationally, and it could also be that source of energy, truth and love – the human heart. I wish I had the space to write something about each of your images just so you can see… Read more »

Age And Desire short poem

Our age is a deciduous tree, sheds yellow desires every year makes room for new ones in the spring of opportunity. Some desires resemble oak leaves, cramped and brown- still cling in mothers’ bosoms like our plans, albums, possessions. Alas,

Mute Desire

Come Naga, come: from the scented tree and spread out your hood. I will pull you down on my lips One day. Classical porn, Neanderthal. In your stark nakedness I wanted an asylum. A place guiltless, hands blackened, moony face,

Falling Desire

Falling Desire short poem

The sun shines for no reason at all, accept to see the people fall. There’s nothing in this world that I truly desire, my hope for passing the finish line is brighter than fire, I’m f*&king insane living with the
