The Ballad Of The Naughty Glowworm

There once was a glowworm
Who’s tail would glow quite bright
You could always see him dancing
On a warm summer night

When he wasn’t dancing
And needed to rest
He’d turn off his taillight
With a switch under his vest

Now glowworm wasn’t a good boy
In fact he was quite bad
He’d switch off his tail, sneak around
And make everyone really sad

Pinching things and breaking things
And drinking all the juice
All around, the people cried
‘Theres a burglar on the loose!’

That’s when he’d run away
And hide beneath big pillows
He’d keep quiet, turn off his taillight
And hide in the dark shadows

But then one day, when he’d been bad
He’d had a nasty fright
Try and try then try once more
He couldn’t turn off his light

The switch was broken
And thought he tried
With a clear bright light
He just couldn’t hide

The village police they chased him
For they had had enough
They saw him beneath the pillows
And locked him in handcuffs

They removed his switch and set him free
But now he was always bright
He couldn’t run and he couldn’t hide
For his tail was always in sight.
