A Parallel Universe…

A Parallel Universe... short poem prose poem

She lifted me gently in her arms,

Smiles and warmth all around,

She cuddled me closer to her chest,

Humming a lullaby that resounds even today,

She looked at me in the eye,

Her words were soft and divine,

Her eyes sparkled with love,

She knew her identity rested in me,

The rhythm of her heart was so loud,

That heart wanted me in a world,

Nestled in care,

Forever safe…

As the earth continued to revolve,

She moved with me,

Swaying in every step,

Comforting with her gentle touch,

Retracing my footsteps,

As I ran in my world,

Chaotic and driven,

Just in time to turn and see,

Her arms trying to shield me,

Entwined in your love,

Of which I do not know the depth,

Your silence is deafening,

Echoing in my ears that,

“Amma, you will always care”

A bond between a mother and child which can rarely be described in words and yet @Shruti you manage to capture it so wonderfully in your poem; that sense of being safe and warm – one can identify with the heartache you feel at the separation from someone who means the whole world to you. Lovely bit of writing..do share some more.

What are we? Why are we? How do we? It’s an infinite place and we so very small. We seem so very much apart. Do we even belong, how could ever learn it all? We look out, we look up,
