Back To Front

Back To Front short poem

In a day when the light
Follows evening not night
It may be time for a second glance

In the night when the moon
Is a painted balloon
It may be time to leave the dance

Will we ever get wise
Will we open our eyes
For it’s a crazy world we’re living in
And there’s no way to survive or win

You see there’s nothing you can do
Just step into the other shoe
Watch the double sided coin fall
Will it ever land will it ever call?

So when the earth doesn’t turn
And the fires just won’t burn
When the ice doesn’t melt
And pain no longer felt

When the grass doesn’t grow
And the wise men just don’t know
Why the wheat can’t be milled
Or the hole can’t be filled

When the laws are not broken
And the sleeper can’t awaken
When the day just will not end
A broken bone refuses to mend

When the waters just won’t run
And the bullet won’t leave the gun
When a child no longer cries
And the birds no longer fly

When a heart can’t hold a beat
And the sun gives no more heat
When the wrong becomes the right
You can no longer see the light

When a lie is believed
And the innocent are deceived
Don’t try to learn the song
Or simply sing along

When will we own up
To the hurt we so despise
When will we move our hands
Instead of trying to disguise

It’s a crazy mixed up world
And we’re trapped here within
And there’s no clear way
To survive or really win

For there’s nothing you can do
Just walk the other shoe
Watch the double sided coin fall
Will it ever hit the ground at all?
