Flashback elegy

I remember the day
The day I found you
Smiling and a sleep
Sadly you were not sleeping
The pills all over the floor
The bottles all empty
The smell of old change
You would not awake
No one to call
Not old enough to drive
To far to walk, anywhere
Three days of missed school
Those three days I grew older
The school called, I answered, help came
I was dressed, fed, bathed and doing my homework
My mom still laying smiling
Upstairs on the bathroom floor
I was only nine
Nine with strive
Everyday I flashback
The pain does not seem to fade
Today, my story continues…
