No One Could Save Her Nirbhaya (delhi Rape Case 2012) long poem

Uploaded by Naila Ali

In the soul of the city,
the four wheels, the scream for pity.
Mercy screamed louder than her voice.
Little girls sleeping promised with their toys.
Not even one,
the strong, the brave, the soldier, the slave.

No one could save her.
No, they couldn’t save her.

In the dead of the night, six men, one to fight.
The little spine of hers was beaten to death.
She had not just pain, laying in red.
The only thing left was taken away,
blame the wounds, swept in threats.
Screaming mom and dad I have nothing left.

No one could save her.
No, they couldn’t save her.

Her little sibling wept by her bed.
He said, “kill them even if they are dead”.
Neither the countrymen,
nor the ones who hit the gym at ten,
No one could save her.
No, they couldn’t save her.

All the mothers, all the wives
all the sisters, all the brides
in front, they lay her.

Her mother screaming, “come alive”.
Her father’s soul was lost that night.
Oh! she was buried down dead.
Oh! Finally, her soul slept.

The case, the verdict, the order, the laws.
Her face, the convict, the blame, the flaws.
Her mother’s tears could be heard from miles away,
where her father’s fears were born every day.

No one could save her.
No, they couldn’t save her.

I wish I could save her,
we wish we could save her,
they wish they could save her.
Now these wishes flyway.
Only stories in the papers stay,
only news reporters and their news pages,
all the candles lit up on the stages.
