Every time you look strangely,
as if you don’t know me,
a ship sinks in my heart.
I plead it to rise.
‘rise, my ship, rise,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
Every time you go about life
as if I don’t exist,
a wound opens in my heart.
I plead it to heal.
‘heal, my wound, heal,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
Every time you question a flower
that I give you,
a stone turns in my heart.
I plead it to stay still.
‘stay still, my stone, stay still,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
Every time you turn away
from my kiss,
a door closes in my heart.
I plead it to open.
‘open, my door, open,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
Every time you push me away
as I make love to you,
a siren starts in my heart.
I plead it to stop.
‘stop, my siren, stop,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
Every time you turn dead
in my hands,
a child wails in my heart.
I plead it to stay silent.
‘stay silent, my child, stay silent,
she loved you once,
she will love you again’.
