You are many

You are many short poem

when life pulls as the flood,
you are a rooted plant,
resisting and growing by yourself!

when life tempts as the apple,
you  are a curious eve,
sinning and learning by yourself!

when life turns into a battle,
you are a lonely warrior,
fighting and winning by yourself!

but my love, you are all this and more!

with tears in your eyes,
when you lie in the cradle of my arms,
you are a child.

but, you are a child and more!

with a crown on your head,
when you sit on the throne of my heart,
you are a princess.

but, you are a princess and more!

in the bright mornings,
when I laugh and laugh at the jokes
life plays on us, you are my friend,
laughing with me.

but, you are a friend and more!

in the dense evenings,
when life throws me out of its windows,
you are my mother, bearing me in your lap,
whispering lies into my ears so that they become true.

but, you are a mother and more!

in the dark nights,
you are a courtesan, teasing me with the tricks
that have passed from woman to woman without a word.

but, you are a courtesan and more!

in the pure mornings,
you wake up a virgin, with innocence,
with an intense longing to be deflowered
by the end of the day.

but, you are a virgin and more!
but, you are a virgin and more!

in the garden of my love, you are a sunflower!

in the silence of my heart, you are a dream!

in the world of my words, you are a poem!

you are many!

I owe all of my poetry to the influence of Pablo Neruda. Reading him 10 years ago on the beaches of Goa, gave me the permission to be who I am and write what I feel. My poetry has never been the same after that. All that I write is an offering to Neruda.
