As we board the ship of our hearts,
as we navigate through the sea of love,
we will discover very many things.
things that often contradict themselves.
there will be towering waves
that upturn our ship.
there will be gentle winds
that help us along.
love will surprise us, time and again.
when we reach the very summit of happiness,
sadness will stretch as valleys in front of us.
we will curl around as the snakes one moment,
but lie as strangers, as two different worlds, the next.
we will even hate each other to hell.
we will even doubt each other to death.
but, along the way, we will learn.
we will learn, my love, to be gentle,
even in hatred, to trust,
even with doubts, to laugh,
even in sadness, to be with each other,
even when we are alone.
we will learn to love. we will learn to love.
we will be each other’s guides.
we will introduce each other to ponds, to poems,
to our own hearts.
we will be each other’s mirrors.
we will be each other’s goals.
but above all, each other’s friends.
we will surrender.
we will surrender mind, body and soul,
so that we could be reborn in each other’s arms.
we will grow tender, stronger, with each embrace.
we will become more of a man and woman with each night.
we will be free in the cages of our hearts.
we will be happy without a reason.
we will be content, with nothing.
and one day, and one day we will build a nest so fragile,
we will be the envy of birds.
