I love you

I love you short poem

I love you as one loves strange islands,
unknown, unheard, mysterious as unread letters.

I love you as one loves certain mornings,
happy to be introduced, to be part of their birth.

I love you as one loves birds,
their loves, mouths feeding mouths,
their flights that are not fancy.

I love you as one loves caves,
with fear, with wonder at its past
that generations have buried
and no one wants to dig up.

I love you directly, as one loves sunlight,
expansive valleys, hearts of mice-like people.

I love you, for your songs and your noise.
I love you, for your wings and your roots.
I love you, for who you are
and of course, for who you are not.

I owe all of my poetry to the influence of Pablo Neruda. Reading him 10 years ago on the beaches of Goa, gave me the permission to be who I am and write what I feel. My poetry has never been the same after that. All that I write is an offering to Neruda.

Fail In Love

Fail In Love short poem

She was a traveling soul. The galaxy resting above her nose. I’d sit & stare. Wondering where the stars would go next. Both young & in love I let go. Tracing together swirls of color. The planets all together aligned.

Please take my hand, for I am blind. I’ve lost my path and my sense of touch. I’ve fallen, for my hands and feet are behind. Please let me hear, for all is in a hush. My wrist and ankles
