I Hear You

I Hear You short poem

Uploaded by Ankita Kundu

Her eyes narrate huge stories every time,
I try to hear them,
Measure the weight she drops on each word,
Counting, the gulps after few.
Her eye balls dance around,
Like butterflies dancing in the ballroom,
She hides violent storms in her,
Yet, she loves to play with balloons.
She stands with her arms open,
She hugs the breeze each morn,
She kisses the stars each night, born.
I try to understand whatever she says,
The lumbago in my back prevents me to reach her,
She never turns up to help me out of bed either,
We both watch from the corner of our eyes,
How our hands find always find each other.
We have a lot of stories in common,
Some paint the multitude in daylight,
Some whisper to the cemeteries under streetlights.
Tonight, I want to see all our stories come true,
I light the fire, and bring the coffee mugs,
I lie down on your favourite cushion, And read out to you,
I am sure, you’ll hear them out,
Among the stars up there,
You’ll cheer loud.
I try to understand her stories again,
Under the grave,
As we relive our days.
