The Manikarnika Ghat

The Manikarnika Ghat ode

Uploaded by Sheena Singh

My arms ached
rowing amidst
the muddy water
of the holy river..

My head reeled
battling against
the flighty stress
carving my mind..

My eyes crammed
pursuing peace,
as I strived
amid the holy river..

The night was dark
my mind, blank;
The heat of fire
enticed me near..

As I stretched
to warm my griefs
the crackling sparks
took my breath..

Still I stood
next to the fumes
liberating my Soul
wailing salvation..

Day or night
The pyres were lit
an immortal tale :
The Manikarnika Ghat
