Vocabulary Lesson prose poem

Uploaded by Bob Gosney

it’s true
that I am cerebral and erudite
I use words both pithy
and expositional

which is to say
I am constantly engaged
in the act of expounding,
setting forth, and explaining
my point of view

allow me to pontificate-
I am an expert in the English language
I am a licensed poet
(The Nebraska School of Inane Verse,
1993 alumni)

so believe me when I tell you
that all poetry- especially mine
is true

as my poetry teacher
Ms. Ida Claire
from North Platte, Neb.
who I served under for many years
(don’t read too much into that)

she said

most poetry is bullshit
but some of it is true

what a wise woman
intelligent, insightful, and sagacious

I can’t wait to see her again
as soon as she negates
the current Restraining Order

cancel, retract, disaffirm

so here’s your vocabulary lesson
for today

it don’t mean nothin’
if you don’t learn nothin’

vocabulary- get some today
