Forgotten! short poem

Do you know how it feels, to be a ragged doll?

once bathed in splendour; now it’s dust – that’s all !!!

Pretty black eyes that sparkled in awe,

at each and everything she saw….

Now she lies in the corner of a hall.

with no one to remember, no one to call…

Forgotten she is as time drifts by-

not once they stopped each “passerby”!!

A gleam of light plays with her hair,

that once attracted many a loving stare.

Those pretty pink lips, that once had sung,

heart warming songs, to which strangers clung.

All she is now, is a distant memory,

“her legend of a smile” a beautiful set of ivory.

Under the coat of dust, lies an unfortunate soul there,

who time forgot, and hate made bare.

Forgotten she is, forgotten she will be…

until by chance a passerby does indeed see;

Till then in the shadows she will lie,

with people just blindly crossing her by.

Forgotten she is, forgotten that’s what they say!

but in her heart she awaits, the dawn of a new day!!!

Lives have been lived by millions of people that have been forgotten or worse never known. People that walked our world, looked at the same sun, the same moon that we see today. Lived lives, had families, lost loved ones,

Tattered clothes that were barely there Her tortured soul was threadbare too. She mirrored our impotent helplessness In the face of destiny’s dire performance As we watched her bizarre life played out. Every time I saw her writhe and squirm,
