The Funeral

The Funeral elegy

I know how it goes…
You show up, you tear up and you grow up.
You shake hands, accept hugs and grieve.
You say goodbye to your beloved…

I know how it goes…
You lose a piece of yourself and mourn.
You challenge seas with your tears.
You curse the universe for this loss.

I know how it goes….
You..you….you crumble.
You hate yourself for living while they die.
You consider suicide just to see them again.

I know how it goes…
Yet, that’s not what happened.
My eyes met the corpse, and nothing.
My shirt was stained with tears of others’.

I loved you…I did.
I lived for you..I did
I would have killed for you…I would
But cry for you…I didn’t
