Rebuilding ballad

Uploaded by Becki Vee

Here I lay
Body and broken spirit, sprawled across
The hardwood floor, covered in dust
And littered with shattered fragments
Of the person I thought I was
Before I broke apart

I will not allow myself to let this mess linger long
Like a puzzle, I shall rearrange and piece together
Until my soul resembles,
In some capacity,
Of a person who I recognize

Though no matter how hard I try
There will remain parts too damaged to attempt to salvage
To move forward,
Is to accept the empty spaces that remains when pieces are best to be discarded

I sense healing is close as I recognize
Such gaps are not imperfections or failures
They are beautiful challenges,
To be filled back in with the poise
I mistakenly believed was lost
