Angel Forever

I wonder…
When I look at an empty street…
When I look at an empty home…
When I look at your empty chair…
In a war, how can everything be fair?

I look at our young son,
He’s just started saying ‘Mom’…
And I know I won’t have an answer,
When he would ask where’s his dad gone?

Some months back, you were waiting for him too,
But before he was born, the war was through…
You left, saying you would be back sooner or later,
But I know your love for the motherland was greater…
You would have fought hard,
You would have missed us a lot…
You would have been hurt,
You would have cried a lot…
My heart cried a lot too,
But never did my eyes…
Because I had a part of you with me,
I had to handle his cries…

They say you fought bravely,
And had hit them hard…
But then you took out your wallet and took out my card,
You looked at my photograph and said you love me,
When the bullet kissed your heart…

It’s been some months,
The pain would never lessen…
But in these days,
I have learnt a big lesson…
All these figures out here who claim to be men,
Are not less than animals who have been kept open…
They want money, they want land,
But they don’t know there’s one loss that they can never stand…
Loss of someone whom they love,
Loss of someone whom they care for,
Loss of someone who means the world…

I am growing strong day by day,
Because this is the only way…
For your angel, who’ll grow up very soon,
And I will tell him about you one noon…
He’ll wear your uniform of the army clan,
and tell me, “Mom, my dad was a brave man”…
I’ll wipe my tears and say,
Dear Son, I had been waiting for this day…
His love for you was not less,
But he loved his motherland too…
And he knew I would take care of you,
It’s not only me who loves you, your dad loved you too…

Then you’ll be a memory to cherish all through our life,
Forever and through, it’d make me feel proud to be your wife…
It would suddenly rain heavily that night,
And I know you would be crying tight…
Then you would smile and say,
That you would leave us never,
That you would be our angel forever…
