The Economizer

The Economizer ballad

The poor man on the street
Tattered clothes bare feet
A small bowl to collect his needs
A timely beat his cry repeat

One small drop
One small coin
He thanks you
While you did not
Notice his smile

At the end of his day
He counts his coins
With a thankful pray
How valuable each one
He knows as the sound
Of the coin rings in his ears

Some one walks away
some stop to say
Sorry we do not have change
Still opens his purse
Their are only notes
An effort in vain

Why do you not understand
The government is trying
To make a cashless economy
Then what will you do?

The poor lifted his head up
And smiled I read that sir
Just think for a while
I am the economizer
A degree and jobless
Not that i did not try
This was the job I found
All I needed was a bowl
And a busy place to sit
So the government
Can count on me
For the Economy
