Our hearts have this huge corner
Deep deep inside
Vulnerable to the slightest hurts
To every criticism, negativity or slight

We build walls around it
Of cynicism and pride
It was tender long ago
Now we cover it and hide

We pretend no one can get to us
Now we are all secure
All those past forgotten slights
Do not matter anymore

Then some days some words
Tear us deeply again
All that you had taken good care to hide
Comes back to haunt you with pain

Oh! How to heal
Those long forgotten hurts
How to bring down the wall
and remain strong yet soft

Vulnerability short poem

I stand naked At the window A rough wind Disarranges my hair Harsh sun rays Beat my bosom Into a merciless submission And I cringe at the touch Of your manipulative fingers My conscience Is like bad breath Reeking of
