The Soldier’s Wife

The Soldiers Wife short poem

Photo by Vince_Ander

I know that miles and distance,
Do not matter;
But who is going to explain it to the heart?
He was soldier,
And she was his other half.
All she did was walk down the aisle that day,
Not knowing Guns was his forte.
Fake was her life,
But her smile shone bright.
Her tears forbidden within her fright.
She longed for his arms
His heartbeat,
His letters gave her warm deceit.
All she did was walk down the aisle that day,
Not knowing that her heart would be torn away.
