Cats

Cats short poem

Uploaded by Bob Gosney

There’s a problem in my neighborhood
cats coming by
pounding on my door

usually in the middle of the night

“give us some milk!
give us some cat chow!”

I call the police
but the cats are gone
when the cops finally show up

at least the cops were honest

they said “this is your third complaint, sir,
and every time we come out here
we can’t find any cats”

I don’t have a good explanation for that
they’re probably hiding in the woods behind me
or maybe they’re riding around at night
just looking for the opportunity

the cops don’t believe me
even when I show them
the scratches on my door

just a friendly warning-
if cats come by
banging on your door
at three o’clock in the morning

don’t let them in

they may look cute
but I tell you true
they’re nothing
but fur and trouble
