The Rainbow Laundromat

The Rainbow Laundromat prose poem

Uploaded by Peter Anderson

Open twenty four seven proclaims the sign across the front door
A warm refuge for the bergies dossing on the linoleum floor

Fluorescent tube lights hum and flicker
The homeless beg for food and hustle for cheap liquor

The air scented with fabric softeners
The deafening chorus from locals and foreigners

Helen sat in front of a spinning dryer
Tweeting about her colonial desire

Jacobs washing is in with the Gupta’s dirty laundry
Their laughing about the nuclear deal and that Nkandla apology

Julius and Floyd don’t think it’s funny
Screaming “Point of order, pay back the money!”

Mmusi’s ignored the instructions and mixed his coloured’s with the whites
All his boxer shorts now look like Turkish delights

Dlamini’s working in the kiosk exchanging tokens for cash
You’re advised to check your change as she’s a little slapdash

Pravin Gordhan still scrubbing out the stains
After his name was dragged through the drains

The new public protector is doing laundry in a disguise
She’s no Thuli Madonsela so she wouldn’t be recognized

A wise old man stares in through the misted window
Beneath the broken sign of a neon rainbow

Eagles Enhanced Rainbow prose poem

While out hiking high in the Cascade Mountain Range, with jagged mountain peaks acting as my back drop, I watch as I behold in the glory of Creation a rainbow being created after a gentle rain shower. An eagle appears

Beneath A Double Rainbow

Beneath A Double Rainbow short poem

High in the Cascade Mountain Range, camped in a wilderness cathedral. Overlooking a vast expanse of wilderness, only meters back from the edge of a sheer precipice. Admiring the shear beauty of a brilliant double rainbow, bridging this vast void.
