Regrets short poem

one time i was waiting at the airport to be called: destination was united states,
i saw my moms tears miles away but i couldn’t
help my self to try and look away
i had to pick either leave or stay

leaving meant my mom stays behind
staying means i miss future opportunities
which way should i pick i think leaving will be best

leaving her behind was the worst mistake
i made, only to not see her 3 years
after i came
should of picked staying instead if i
would of know it was going to be this way
