Where Is Humanity?

Where Is Humanity? short poem

The grey-haired die of hunger, the children’s’ store full of food,
While still breasting, death snatches her mom,
She faces the wrath of her step-mother, what crime is she paying for?
While still nurturing her infant, the shadow snatches her husband,
Why, is her child a curse?

Its election time, they lose their parents to violence, why,
Is the leader a dictator or savior?
While rushing early to office to earn a living, at gunpoint,
He loses it all to robbers, his life too, why,
Can’t we all work & eat from our sweat?
When busy shopping with family, the building goes in flames,
The Al shabaab again! Why,
Who told you murdering others, wins you a ticket to heaven?

Dear humans, please answer me,
Where is humanity?
Is it hidden in the forest?
Is it in the meadows & swamps?
Has it hidden underground or,
Is it that it flew back to its maker?
Where are you humanity?

A mom leaves her child at nanny’s care,
She is harassed and mistreated, why,
Is it because she isn’t her child?
She gets to love you truly; suddenly she is all heavy,
You ran away, why,
Did she fertilize herself?

I’m lost in the skies; all I see are monsters,
Hovering over innocent souls, ready to devour them,
No mercy for the weak & meek,
Where did you go humanity?
The world needs you so badly,
Your care, kindness & dignity has lost meaning,
Everyone for themselves
