Battle

Battle short poem

Uploaded by Shelby Holley

I know your hurts, and I know the pain
I gave them to you but it wasn’t in vain
So that one day you’d freely give me your all
And cry out “yes Lord?” When you heard the call
I’ve been here forever and this you know
Because I’ve held you before and then watched you go
You’ve ran and kept running for most of your life
And still I was there, every day, every night
Now the times come for my soldiers to stand
To grab your deliverance from the palm of my hand
The war has begun and your battle is near
I’ve taken your doubt, I’ve taken your fear
For this you were destined from the beginning of time
You were never your own, you were always mine
You are strong and courageous and this you know
That I’ll always be with you wherever you go
And now that you’ve heard me and finally said yes
You’ll not only complete but you’ll pass the test
That’s why you were made in my image, you see
To further my kingdom and help others believe

I'm a 42 yr old single father. I'm new to writing. Well, I've always written, but only recently decided to share. I find myself embarrassed by it, lacking the confidence I need in my writing, perhaps even myself. My goal is for someone to read one of my poems and perhaps get a glimmer of hope, to maybe inspire someone that otherwise would not have been reached.

Maybe it was just the hand that I was dealt. Never had luck trying to figure life out. I’m doing my best to be the best man I can be. But there’s something evil that dwells deep inside of me.
