The Painter

The Painter short poem

Uploaded by Rebecca Lyle

Behold, you are in the presence of the painter of man
May his brushstrokes be kind as he paints your essence
He sees right into your soul as he paints the inner you
Your canvas is life, may the hues in your colors
Be bright and beautiful as he captures your goodness.

May he see your generosity and all your kind deeds
My hope is he paints your loving nature to all living things
In your memories, I hope he sees only beauty
Love for your family, friends, and all mankind
A special soul indeed with an unselfish heart.

And may your life be long but unencumbered with grief
When you are ready, I hope he paints Heavenly wings
As he opens the cage of life to fly away
You need not worry, your portrait is not for sale
You are his masterpiece to be hung in the sky.

I have written poetry for nearly 50 years. My first poem," A ticking of a Clock, was published in a women's magazine when I was 12. When my Mother passed away the poem was misplaced. I have been trying to locate it. I do other writing also.
