Do You Trust The Numbers?

Do You Trust The Numbers? short poem

Poetic misfortune, justice, and timing, at times fall flat on their faces,
The beautifully cruel climate of the world, at times,
Stomps on the head of logic and then turns around,
Only to error on the side of tenderness,
Dust in the wind man, anything can go right or wrong,
We are all gamblers,
With the passing of every second, risk runs parallel,
So re—assess, some leave it all to chance,
Other push towards disaster,
Distrust in odds and statistics have come over me a time or two,
Now I can accept the numbers
Only, however, the ones that are not influenced by invidious human motives,
Facts that are not tied to anyone who has much to gain or lose,
These digits I can consider persuasive,
What is will be,
What happened has happened.
