Drowned short poem

Can hear the rush of water,

change in the tempo of sound

as I go down and pop up.

They say, sound travels faster in water

it sounds very different though,

I am drowning I know for sure..

I drink some water,

my sinuses hurt,

have a stinging pain in my head,

and am getting choked.

The rush to stay afloat,

kicking my legs furiously,

I know I am drowning for sure..

The water is above my head now,

I can’t see the blue of the sky,

I don’t hear the screams any more,

I seem to be fading away,

I don’t mind it at all

I know I have drowned for sure…

I like the queer feeling evoked, when overwhelmed. Almost drowned before. Nice poem.
