Wings short poem

“Let’s grow you some wings,”

You said.

“Can you do those things?”

I didn’t believe.

I was a student of science.

Much to my relief,

in my inner confines

I was still a bird.

And, you were a bard

with no practical wherewithal.

“Come, fall

with no fear or remorse,

as the life takes its course…”

“Wait!”, I had to shout,

“What’s this all about?

Now you say fall,

now you say fly, at all

is there any sense

in what’s going to commence?”jk

“Ask this to the baby bird,”

you said and without another word,

walked away.

Till this day,

the bars of the cage

shames me with their outrage.
