If I Was Gone

If I Was Gone long poem

“If I was gone”

If I was gone what would you do? Would you miss me loving you? If I disappeared without a trace. Would tears start streaming down your face?

Would you call my name into the dark? Would losing really break your heart? If I took my very last breath. Would you wish I could come back again?

If I said goodbye and had to go. Would you tell me you loved me and beg me “don’t”. Would you chase after me and grab my hand? Say that without me your life would end.

If I ran away from all the pain. Would you hold me close and take it all away? Would you give your all to make me see, that with me is where you want to be?

Tomorrow is never promised. Things happen out of the blue… sometimes people go away and there’s nothing you can do.

If I said I was leaving…that I’ve had enough. That I couldn’t take another day of not feeling your love. Would you promise to show me each and everyday? Or would you leave us in the past and simply walk away?

Would you scream to the world how lucky you are? Or would you watch my tears falling heart breaking from afar. Would you just turn away? Or would say “please stay”.

If I was gone away, do you know what I’d do? I’d spend my life finding my way back to you. I’d tell you I loved you till the bitter end. I’d tell you that you’re where my life began. I’d wrap my arms around you tight, and ask you to stay with me for the rest of my life.

If I was gone…and all alone. I’d think of your face ’cause you are my home.. if I was gone what would you do? Because there is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.

Hearts shed people throughout life- like broken angels crossing time- in the form of lovers and loved ones. Some wake you up after they’re gone- others startle you as they depart. Lovers depart like a fife- cutting silence with great
