The Moon, And Other Primal Attractions: The Strange Attractors Of Alike, Zakynoos

The Moon, And Other Primal Attractions: The Strange Attractors Of Alike, Zakynoos short poem

Uploaded by Andrew Darlington

loggerhead turtles
drawn to the moon
become distracted,
lured by airport beacons
to die in strange terrain

here in day’s dry whiteness
lizards endlessly pause,
and bats caper through
clustering dusks
of vines and lemons

drawn from solar cells
water runs warm in day’s heat
yet cool in night’s chill

after making love
I watch her shower
in tepid water,
her body an endless
amazement, yet still
drawn by thoughts
of other loves,
names we both know
that I daren’t mention,
lost in endless moments
in other rooms,
with other bodies

sometimes, we too
can become distracted,
lured to something
very like deaths
in strange terrain
