We Are But Humans

We Are But Humans short poem

we are but humans
spring-sing soft stars of simple dimples and happy rhymes
cold-hold cast figures of quick kisses and broken unbrokens
of up-eyes and down-feet-fear
of hearts and heads and faces and feathers
and scream-dreams and teen-dreams and mean-dreams and seem-dreams
we are but humans
sin-king all smalls of sorrow morrows and unlives
soul-hole stillnils of lost monsters (and balloons)
of back-eyes and front-feet-fear
of hells and heavens and fancies and feathers
and damn-dreams and daze-dreams and dread-dreams and dream-dreams
but
we are but humans.
