Mother Earth Weeps

Mother Earth Weeps short poem

Green earth, blue sky, sapphire sea
Longtime a home for life to be
Mother of all a vibrant womb
Her children awry seal her doom

Vast oceans the life-blood of all
From its depths the first life did crawl
What’s been for ages now is killed
By countless barrels of oil spilled

Lush canopy of forest green
Sheltering those the earth has preened
Now one by one the trees are felled
No more a place for us to dwell

Earth Mother’s breath moves in us all
Creatures so great and those so small
Fresh air we breathe a vital source
Scarce will be till man changes course
