Icarus Wings

Icarus Wings ballad

Well I made mistakes. I said some things. Honey, I was wrong.
I shouldn’t drink. I didn’t think, is what you could have said or done.
But instead you walk away, said “you can’t stay,” and now you’re gone.
And I watched your car pull, from our yard. It played your favorite song:

“Darlin’ that’s the thing with Icarus wings, in a land of midnight sun.
Shining white. All waxed with pride. Spread them long and start to run.
You can reach top speed, pick up your feet, but the fall has just begun.”

Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do what you want.

Cut your top, at the traffic stop, stuck your leg out in the light.
Maybe some guy, with cash to buy will take you home tonight.
You step through his door, hit the kitchen floor, and darling do your thing.
And in his bed, all through your head, your song begins to sing:

“Darlin’ that’s the thing with Icarus wings, in a land of midnight sun.
Shining white. All waxed with pride. Spread them long and start to run.
You can reach top speed, pick up your feet, but the fall has just begun.”

Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.

After one month you called, said it’s all your fault, “Can I come back home?”
I was high, never crossed my mind that you would end up so alone.
I didn’t say back anything, just took a drag right from my joint.
Turned my music on, and it was that song. Turn it up and sing along:

“Darlin’ that’s the thing with Icarus wings, in a land of midnight sun.
Shining white. All waxed with pride. Spread them long and start to run.
You can reach top speed, pick up your feet, but the fall has just begun.”

Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
Do, do do, do. Do, do don’t. Do do, what you want.
