Urban Fox

Urban Fox prose poem

When he comes, he visits her at night.
Entering her personal space, uninvited but nonetheless welcome.
She does not know his schedule; dreadful expectation.
Absences unexplained.
Too wary to search for answers, prepared to forgive for shared moments.

His silent approach almost catching her unawares.
He returns, seeking her out from the rest.
Through swirling thoughts she sees him clearly.
Admiring his beauty and determination to be there, with her.
The pain of their last parting forgotten in the latest reunion.

She wishes she could stroke him.
Somehow realising this would break the spell, she resists trying.
How cruel, this sweet temptation.
Bridging the divide seems within her reach.
Achingly close.

Her mind wonders at the prospect of somehow keeping him.
Doubts the sanity of even thinking this way.
Resigned to his comings and goings.
She awaits her next ethereal encounter.
When he will remind her of their past life together; the man of her dreams.
