The Lifeline

The Lifeline short poem

I started walking on the water.
I could see Jesus up ahead,
but then I lost my focus and got afraid.

Thoughts of sinking and possibly drowning entered my mind.
Oh, why did I ever think that I could do this in the first place?
I, a mere mortal man walking on the water.
How preposterous!

I forgot all about Jesus being there for me and I displayed little faith.
I cried out in fear like a helpless baby.
Jesus reached out and pulled me to the boat.

Now, I know that I have nothing to fear.
As long as I focus on Jesus and don’t take my eyes off Him,
I am secure.
But if doubts and fear overcome me, He is always there
to throw out the Lifeline.
