Recovery [part3]

Recovery [part3] prose poem

Recovery [part3] prose poemPhoto by h.koppdelaney

I touched you tonight
For the first time
In so long.
I touched you so lightly
in my mind
Then you were gone.

For hours I stared at you.
Those old feelings
Overwhelming again.
My eyes consumed you,
And started healing
Familiar pains.

Yet, as my hand reached out
To touch you softly
As those times before,
You turned to vapour, snuffed out
By tears whispering to me
“Stop lying, I am no more”.

I touched you tonight
For the last time.
It has come
For me to face that tonight
You gave me the final sign
You wished to be gone.

Time over time the shattered heart mended, awakening a possibility unknown Truth does not manipulate a shallow hope is shown… Time grew into a vine of sourness, prejudice coaxed the rot, prayers for retaining innocence… went hush ….like the silenced
