For Rain I Shall Applaud

For Rain I Shall Applaud ode

O Every Single Tear,
Adventurous and wild!
Lyrical to my ear,
You bring out in me the child
Who wishes she could hear
Your voice in every day,
So she could make some room,
For you, as guest to stay!

O Every Single Drop!
A magnifying glass,
Too bright for me to stop
Day-dreaming in class!
For you make my ears pop
Every time that you cascade
Down those slanting roofs,
And it sounds like a parade!

O Every Single Molecule
Of Combined H20!
They love to ridicule
My fancy for you, though!
However, you’ll still rule
As monarch in my mind,
While those that don’t like rainy days,
From sunlight shall go blind.

O Every Single Rainy Day!
Each drop you should employ,
To fall and help me for once slay
The thoughts of this one boy.
For when I asked him in what way
He felt about your looks,
He said it was too wet to play
Football! Yes, he’s a crook!

O Every Single Puddle
On the road that we all see!
You make me want to cuddle
Up in an armchair and drink tea,
With a “straight from the oven” strudel
And a novel by my side,
Seeping in the smell of the damp soil
That is coming from outside!

O Every Single Cloud!
You bring for me this rain,
You bring for me the thunder loud,
The medicine for pain!
And in the end, you gently bow
To make way for the stars,
And to present to my own eyes,
A world that’s free of scars!
