To My Distant Special Friend

To My Distant Special Friend short poem

For my distant special friend…..
I mocked you often
Whenever you said we are special friends
I asked what does the word
Special mean
You never explained
Now I know why
I laughed at you my special friend
Never realised with passage of time
I will soon change my trend
At times I showed my anger
You always kept quiet
At times I showed resentment
You did not react
Your absence in my life
Dawned on me
Your importance in my life
Your friendship as if an age has gone by
I remembered how you cared
How we laughed together
You made me see there is beauty
There is happiness in everything
And it is always good to share
Thank God your absence was
A temporary one
I realise you are so special for me
Like you there can’t be anyone
Walking on the individual path
Life has chosen for us
No matter if we meet not again
Your friendship is my life’s
Most precious gift

Just to say no distance can keep us apart
‘Coz special friends dwell in
Each other’s heart……
