Let us all bow , my countrymen
In reverence, and gratitude
To the memory of those bravehearts
Who stood like an iron wall
To defend the sanctity of Parliament
The all faith shrine of democracy
Despite death dancing around
In the form of deadly bullets
Did not budge an inch from the post of duty
Till the nasty plot of terror was not foiled and smashed to the ground .
And we all ,across the land , heaved a sigh of relief .
Wonder if it could have been possible
But for the alert and vigilant security men guarding the gates !
And Alas!some of them did not live to witness the result of their gallant feats !
But their supreme sacrifice has been definitely engraved
In the annals of martyrdom
As also in the hearts of people
Who , I am sure , will not forget to light a few candles
In their hallowed memory .

Have something to say about the poem?
I have been a teacher for about four decades ,but even more than that , a student and learner all along --literature being my favourite subject with special love for poetry , a trait I seem to have inherited from my father, who was a very good poet ,it was he that instilled in me a deep love for poetry early in childhood . Starting as a science student ,I shifted to literature after graduation and and worked on Emily Dickinson's poetry for Doctoral degree. I don't claim to be a poet ,but do admit my inherent love for poetic utterances as and when I find them and sometimes feel inspired to give vent to my own emotions in words that seem to convey them .Honestly it happens quite effortlessly and also leaves me with an immense satisfaction .If it can be termed poetry ,all the more rewarding. .
