My World

My World short poem

The path I once tread, seems parched,
My favorite trees look bare, bereft of dense skin,
The flowers on the trees, now just a colorless papery illusion,
And the sky a blazing ugly yellow screen.

What happened to my world, while I was gone,
What happened to my world, while I was gone?

The chirping birds are now mute and lifeless,
The sparkling stars have lost their brightness,
The windy nights are now cold and eerie,
And the glowing moon is eclipsed with darkness.

What happened to my world, while I was gone,
What happened to my world, while I was gone?

I shudder at the sight of this world,
I shudder at its plight,
I’m disgusted by the nights here,
I’m scared of the blazing daylights.

I arise shaken, and Oh! what a relief,
I look at my real world, and realize it was just a bad dream.
My world is just the way, I always wanted it to be.
My world is just the way, I always wanted it to be.

The pathway I tread is lush soft and green,
My favorite trees they wear a dense coat of leaves,
and the magnificent flowers in between,
Uplifts my soul and spirit.

The sky is a screen of myriad colors,
A rainbow of my dreams and desires ,
And my world is as beautiful,
As beautiful as I want it to be.

The chirping birds, get noisier at my sight,
The sparkling stars, wink at me and smile,
The wind plays peek-a-boo with my tresses,
And the moon, Ah! what a magnificent delight.

And my world is as beautiful as ever,
As beautiful as I want it to be,
I will cherish my world forever,
Even so ,in my dreams.

@disha, at first a melancholy write with such wistfulness, and then, springing to life at the realization that the world was not such at all. You have exemplified the experience of some, misled to formulate a wrong impression of the situation, and then elated at having realized the world was something else.
