My Familiar Friend…

My Familiar Friend... long poem

We really have to stop meeting like this,
You always give me a kiss on the lips,
You always let me know you have missed,
We wonder how it ever came to this.

It seems there are certain times of the year,
I can almost predict that you will appear,
It’s been this way for so many years,
Yet your presence always brings me to tears.

You ask me if I’ll be your Valentine,
You’re always here in this heart of mine,
I know I can always turn to you,
Forever in life you’ll help me through.

I know when winter turns to Spring,
Another visit from you it will bring,
Easter fills me with such love,
I’m truly convinced you’ve been sent from above.

My birthday I always hope you’ll forget,
Once again we meet and I always regret,
You insist on being right there by my side,
Our love affair we continue to hide.

Christmas time is the absolute worst,
I swear sometimes my life has been cursed,
It seems you are everywhere that I go,
They introduce us yet we already know.

This year I’m making a resolution,
It seems like this is the only solution,
Chocolate it’s time for you to depart,
It’s New Year and time for my diet to start!!
