A Restless Heart

A Restless Heart short poem

I lay in bed all morning
Crippled with a yearning
Turned to my left, then right
Couldn’t find my love, nowhere in sight

You hadn’t come over, you weren’t supposed to
Yet I had this feeling, a sense; I could feel you
This loneliness, emptiness, I can’t bear it any longer
Pray tell me love, what am I supposed to do?

I heed your advice, try to keep busy
So many distractions, but it just ain’t easy
Tried to keep you out of my mind – just for sometime
It’s not that simple, I can’t just erase and rewind

Time oh Time, how cruel art thou
Come pass us quick, I can’t wait for thee
Truth be told, my heart won’t stay still
To fall into thy arms and that void to fill

Oh darned day, when will it end
Come another night, my heart is to mend
For another day or two, I am restless; I can’t wait
To see thee again, I long for thy embrace

It’s time to wake up, to step into reality
Dreams and Desires, a mere possibility
We face challenges, our own hurdles
Love is beautiful, sometimes a struggle

Let’s make a promise then, to be patient and kind
To love one another and to give each other time
‘Cause if I had a choice, I’d never let you go
I’d start a life with you and love you evermore.

@Savio_Fernandes, you have good rhythm and rhyme, though you let go in some of the places. You might like to stick with the meter throughout your beautifully inspired poem. But don’t let that dismay you, overall, this is an enjoyable piece, with the insights and cautions to make love much more lovable.
