Share My Dream short poem

Uploaded by Dr.Indu Nautiyal

The scenes of human sufferings
Are more apparent in the world
Than all the boastful shows Of power, riches and pelf .
We see a few rolling in wealth,
While millions in penury and want suffer
The rich inventing new ways to spend
and the poor toiling hard just to keep alive
Do not the affluent shun to share
Their plenty with the less fortunates
To help them keep the wolf off door
Its pangs of hunger, want and straits .
Why is there any one on the earth
Deprived of basic needs to live
When bounteous Nature provides enough
To all its creatures big or small
Is it Providence or man himself
That makes this unjust disbursement ?
The powerful grab all that is worth
Leaving the weak and poor deprived .
Wish that this selfish attitude
could turn into charitable thoughts
This world of ours would be transformed
into a place called Heaven on the Earth

I have been a teacher for about four decades ,but even more than that , a student and learner all along --literature being my favourite subject with special love for poetry , a trait I seem to have inherited from my father, who was a very good poet ,it was he that instilled in me a deep love for poetry early in childhood . Starting as a science student ,I shifted to literature after graduation and and worked on Emily Dickinson's poetry for Doctoral degree. I don't claim to be a poet ,but do admit my inherent love for poetic utterances as and when I find them and sometimes feel inspired to give vent to my own emotions in words that seem to convey them .Honestly it happens quite effortlessly and also leaves me with an immense satisfaction .If it can be termed poetry ,all the more rewarding. .

I think the rich do a lot for the poor. Our churches are oriented towards feeding and sheltering the poor. Without wealthy people around who will help? I belong to a group of people that provide clothes and books for poor kids. My daughter gathers many, many friends together when a poor person submits a wish that needs fulfilled….I know a man who goes around at Christmas giving out $100 bills to the less fortunate. Kindness and charity are not just for others. IThey are for the people with money to help the poor cause no one else has the money to help. Many many freebies for the poor!!
