Roar! long poem

Dear O dear! How you have not sunk your fangs
Deep into the steely arms of the tyrant – he laughs at you!
How your teeth have eroded and are now blunt and brittle –
They can barely crush bones between!
How your eyes are now hazed in despair –
The prey now prowls the land!
All this and so much more, strike me.

Do you remember how your roar used to split the skies once?
The tyrant grins mockingly at your muted face!
Your mane is a mere lice infested shadow of its past glory
The tyrant rips your regal coat off your drooping shoulders!
Do you remember how your right paw
Was the right arm of justice across the land?
The tyrant ridicules your empty throne!

Roar! Roar! With boundless rage!
Your roar has not echoed across the turbulent seas for quite awhile!
Roar! Roar! With boundless rage!
You have not seen how the river seeps through broken roofs,
Huddled naked bodies hiding in muddy ditches!
Roar! Roar! With boundless rage!
You do not know why lost souls have chosen venom over water!
Roar! Roar! With boundless rage!
Can you not see a single platter of bran passing from mouth to mouth,
Feeding entire villages?

Roar! O dear Lion King!
Rip apart the frozen skies, see the thunder clouds cower already!
Forests stand on their feet dying to hear you roar,
Vesuvius promises to awaken in the wake of your long awaited return!
The tyrant has swollen with pride, in one thousand years of agony,
Either lay down your head at his feet
Or fling his severed head amid the naked bodies
Those huddle in muddy ditches of despair!
Roar! Roar! O Lion King!
Your roar has once echoed across millennia!
