An Ode To Kalam

An Ode To Kalam long poem

Rameshwaram it is,
Where the intellect was born,
Brilliance personified,
Treasure of knowledge,
Curiosity is space,
Efforts are the missiles,
Pride of India,
A true son of the soil,
Far from riches,
Humble He was,
Values and virtues,
Deep within,
Drawn from parental preach,
Mother’s respect was Father’s mission.

Beginning was it,
From St Joseph’s,
Towards the esteemed ISRO and DRDO,
Attaining the highest State of Honor,
Learning from eminence,
Wonders He of the ancient geniuses,
Launching Aryabhata and Bhaskara,
From country’s own SLV,
Defense He believed in,
Gifted BrahMos and manymore,
Serving the nation with honesty and divinity,
Dreaming endless,
For a nation endowed with wealth,
To be great among the greatest,
Defining 2020 the momentous year,
Inspiring and invigorating youth;
Channelize energy into action,
Bring forth revolution in economy and science,
For He trusts children are the first scientists,
Cause they question such that baffles He,
Why can’t mighty Brahmaputra serve an arid Rajasthan?
So dream on dream on youth of the nation,
Demands He,
Education to be realized and re vitalized,
Impart justice, abhor violence,
Enlighten yourselves with the spirit of self realization.

March ahead and toil hard,
For what matters is the nation,
Destroy the narrow domestic walls,
Rise and rise with the ‘Tree of Life’,
My respect, my vision for my motherland;
To be the richest and the finest,
Delivering providence,
Human race is the best creation,
So give and give until you get bliss.

Salutations to the great soul,
For igniting minds,
Keep the lamp of knowledge burning,
As desired by He,
And build a nation of wealth, power and prosperity.

Note: ‘Tree of Life’ is a poem written by Dr. Kalam in his book ‘Ignited Minds’.

Excellent use of constructs with events and ideals of Kalam’s life, for an inspiration, in the Poem.
