Daughter

Daughter prose poem

Uploaded by Ramapriya Nr

The two strangers met each other to mingle
and lead rest of their life all together
The two in course of time were to become three
The two dreamt of a baby boy but were disappointed
when they found it was a baby girl
With saddened mood the two took
the cleaned up infant in their arms
The mere sight of the baby opening
her little eyes and shaking her hands and legs
ensured the trickling of tears of joy in their Eyes
The unforgettable experience got etched in the heart of the reluctant parents
Then on the baby became became synonymous and apple of their eyes
As the toddler stood up and began to walk
the stretched hands of the couple to hold the falling baby ensured UN ending bondage between the three
The girl blossomed into beautiful flower of rose showing her credentials in all walks of life
Couples were the proudest parents to the bubbling and charming girl turned woman
The day of reckoning arrived and the girl was to tie knot to her life partner
Though the parents were happy to see their daughter settling down
it was the most daunting time for them to with hold the flood of tears
for having to part with part of their body and soul.
The couple who were reluctant to have a baby girl are now faced
with traumatic situation of parting with the daughter
How ever controlling the impending floods of tears the couple blessed their daughter
for a life full of happiness Love and care from her In laws to such an extent that she
may even forget her parental house and enjoy the bliss of married life in her abode
Bidding Good bye to the newly married couple ,they slowly walked back into their house
with their hidden tears suddenly bursting out into uncontrollable floods on a feeling
their darling daughter is permanently snatched away from them and no more she
be the same person in their life

A simple story told with a mellow, sweet, sadness. In their very simplicity, there is quality to touch the heart and thereby poetry succeeds. A sweet cadence.
